Cybersecurity program growth, ‘cyber village’ could be future of Augusta University

Cybersecurity and even a “cyber village” involving Sibley Mill could be potential future strengths for Augusta University, President Brooks Keel said.

In remarks before the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce on Thursday and in a later interview, Keel said the coming Army Cyber Command at Fort Gordon creates the potential to strengthen and grow the university’s cybersecurity and computer science programs.

“We will be a destination campus for kids who want to get into cybersecurity and all of its offshoots – computer science, information technology, health informatics, all of those sorts of things,” he
