Cybersecurity Workshop Addresses a Diverse Set of Issues and Stakeholders

Industrial cybersecurity was a key topic at ARC Advisory Group’s recent Forum in Orlando, Florida, with keynotes, workshops, technical sessions, and exhibits by leading suppliers. The Automation Federation organized the Monday morning workshop that kicked off the cybersecurity pro-gram. The workshop included presentations by leading standards developers, NIST and ISA, energy giant Exelon, the FBI, and two North Carolina public-private partnerships involved in supporting small manufacturers and cyber workforce development. The diversity of these speakers clearly highlighted the pervasiveness of cybersecurity threats and the need for a broad set of programs.

Strong attendance for this workshop and the other cybersecurity-related sessions at the Forum demonstrate the ongoing need for programs that deliver diverse educational opportunities and enable broad-based networking among end-users, cybersecurity specialists, and solution providers.

The Automation Federation
The Automation Federation (AF), an association of member organizations engaged in manufacturing and process automation activities, was founded in 2006 by the International Society of Automation (ISA) along with two charter members, the Organization for Machine Automation and Control (OMAC), and the Wireless Industrial Networking Alliance (WINA). Since then, a large number of other industry organizations have joined the group.
