More than 900 people are expected to attend the Southeastern Cyber Security Summit in Huntsville.
The June event was formerly called the Alabama Cyber Security Summit, but organizers made the name change to reflect the growing crowds and Huntsville‘s growing status as a cybersecurity hub. Some of the leading names from the U.S. Army, National Security Agency, and the Department of Homeland Security will speak during the two day summit, which is expected to have a half million dollar impact to the Huntsville economy. Event sponsors say this year may have the best collection of speakers in the summit’s seven-year history.
“We got a great agenda, a great set of speakers, I’m looking forward to it,” says Dynetics vice president of Enterprise Solutions Jonathan Whitcomb, “I encourage anybody who has an interest in cyber security or cyber risk management to attend. We’re looking forward to a great summit for 2015.”
The increased success of the Southeastern Cyber Security Summit has correlated with the increase of cybersecurity awareness. Many high-profile data breaches have helped make this high-tech field a high-demand field as well.
“Cybersecurity is receiving national attention, and with new laws being enacted this year, it is of increasing importance to small and large companies alike,” says Cyber Huntsville vice president for economic development Pete D. Schofield.
