CyberSecurity Malaysia offers assistance in British paedophile probe

PUTRAJAYA: The Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry (Mosti) is ready to help authorities in its investigation into the case of British paedophile Richard Huckle. Its minister Datuk Seri Madius Tangau said Mosti, via its agency CyberSecurity Malaysia, possesses the expertise to help both local and foreign investigators. “We view the case seriously. CyberSecurity Malaysia can provide technical expertise especially in cyber forensics related to Huckle’s case and other such cases in the future,” he said in a statement today. CyberSecurity Malaysia, said the minister, was equipped with a digital forensic laboratory. The lab is the first forensic laboratory in Malaysia and the Asia Pacific region to be accredited by the American Society of Crime Lab Directors/Lab Accreditation Board (ASCLD/LAB) for the ‘Digital & Multimedia Evidence’ discipline.
