NXP joins European Cyber Security Organization

NXP has signed a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) agreement with the European Commission to establish a strategic alliance in cybersecurity. NXP will be a founding partner of the European Cyber Security Organization (ECSO), which will operate as a non-profit association. Following the signature, the European Union will invest EUR 450 million in the partnership as part of its research & innovation programme Horizon 2020. In return, ECSO members will jointly invest an additional EUR 1.3 billion into the research and development of innovative and trusted cybersecurity solutions, products and services.

At the first ECSO member meeting held in Brussels on 7 July, NXP’s Ulrich Huewels was elected to the ECSO board of directors. Eva Schulz-Kamm, heading NXP Global Political Affairs, has joined the Partnership Board which is the main interface of ECSO to the European Commission.
