Rod Vawdrey leaves Fujitsu for Nuix

Australian-owned cybersecurity company, Nuix, has appointed former corporate executive of Fujitsu A/NZ, Rod Vawdrey, to its team as chief operating officer. In the role, Vawdrey will take responsibility for overseeing the company’s business activities globally, including sales operations, information technology, human resources, training, facilities and strategic projects and partnerships.

He claimed his decision to join Nuix was driven by his vision to highlight the importance of cybersecurity policy frameworks to executive leaders and to empower organisations to turn Big Data into actionable intelligence.

“There is a real need to bridge the gap at the executive level so that ceos embrace a culture of cybersecurity in addition to technology software to protect them from cyber-threats,” he said.

“While technology can help address the risks, it is not enough on its own, especially when nearly half of all cybercrime incidents and security breaches emanate from within organisations themselves. That’s why I see the need for a major shift in culture around data security at the highest level.”

Nuix chief executive, Eddie Sheehy, said Vawdrey’s experience will help take the company to a new level.

“He could easily be running a Fortune 500 or ASX-listed company but he has chosen to be part of Nuix,” he mentioned.

Vawdrey has been an IT and innovation business leader for more than 30 years, having previously held the position of corporate senior vice-president and president of the global business group at Fujitsu A/NZ. He held on to this role for two years.

Prior to that, he served as the CEO of the company for almost eight years. Vawdrey’s stint also includes working at NCR Corporation as its sales and marketing vice-president for more than 25 years.
