Cybersecurity is becoming more and more a priority for all companies now, especially that all data and information are being secured digitally, and that hacking attacks have been increasingly rampant recently. Gone are the days when having an anti-virus is enough; security breaches are now more tailored and more sophisticated than how they used to be before.
While there are laws that protect companies from security breaches, it is important to know that the law is more in favor of helping companies who have taken the necessary steps to safeguard their data. For the government to help companies who have fallen victims to cybersecurity attacks, they consider how companies keep track of the attacks, and whether their data is properly encrypted. A whole incident response plan must be prepared by an in-house attorney to make sure that a company is ready for any kind of breach.
Another importance of having an in-house cybersecurity attorney is that it allows the company to respond timely to a cybersecurity. Most companies scramble in looking for outside help during a breach, resulting to losses worth millions of dollars.
Cybersecurity attorneys are now seen as an integral part in the everyday operations of companies. They will be responsible for mapping out incident responses, and taking action as need be.
