Uber to quadruple cybersecurity team to protect drivers from attacks

Uber told Daily News reporters Nolan Hicks and Dan Rivoli that its fastest-growing areas are outside of Manhattan, areas underserved by yellow cabs.

Have you ever used Uber in New York?

And the more we see, the less it seems customer needs even figure into the equation.

In other words, Uber drivers picking up passengers at KCI at this very moment have submitted to neither a city background check nor the enhanced fingerprint check required of taxi drivers. We want this agreement to work for TNCs [transportation-network companies, e.g., Uber, Lyft], taxis, airport travelers.

Cab drivers, too, can find themselves on the sidelines, frustrated that Uber is eating their lunch while they suffer the competitive disadvantage of playing by the city’s many, many rules.

Uber is a phenomenal concept, especially for a country like India where our metros are plagued with heavy traffic congestion and long commute times.

The new service will not replace Uberpop with its amateur drivers, the company said. “If we permit anyone to drive anyone around without proper insurance, I think it would become quite a problem”.

The committee held a news conference Wednesday, outlining its proposals to the provincial government.

“The draft decree is the application of the law of October. 1 2014″, he said, adding that it was “one of the elements of the modernization of the taxi profession”, agreed after a July meeting between ministers and taxi industry leaders. ‘The blue licence plate is unnecessary in our model’. Twice-yearly mechanical inspections cost $75, and training for all taxi drivers costs more than $100 every two years.

Uber, Lyft, and Sidecar are all part of the ridesharing economy loved by urban-dwelling millennials and distrusted by Democratic politicians like Hillary Clinton, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D), taxi driver associations, and Salon.com headline writers.

UberPop is now 40 to 50 percent cheaper than a regular taxi while UberX will be 20 to 30 percent cheaper, according to a company spokesperson.

The council approved the new regulations with minor changes, removing a requirement that taxi companies operate 24 hours a day and lowering the age limit for drivers of taxis and ride-sharing services from 21 to 18.
