An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. That’s a saying attributed to Ben Franklin.
But it’s a strategy that’s not working for cybersecurity, according to the CEO of a leading IT analytics company.
Companies are spending more on trying to prevent attacks, but as they spend more, the intrusions that make it through end up costing their businesses more as well. It’s a war, said RedSeal’s Ray Rothrock, and one organizations are losing.
“The strategy of prevention is not 100 percent efficient,” Rothrock said. “The data just proves it. Something new must come along.”
Rothrock recommends a strategy built around resilience. Since there’s no way to stop every hack or intrusion, businesses and other organizations should focus their energies on making their systems capable of running effectively even during an attack. For the full article click here
