What is FCA’s Response Concerning Cyber Security Threats?
FCA considers the safety of our customers and their confidence in our products to be of utmost importance. This includes the security of its automobiles from cyber-attacks.
To eliminate vulnerabilities of our products, we routinely update and test the software, and monitor the products in the ordinary course of business. Additionally, FCA has an Embedded System Quality Engineering team dedicated to identifying and implementing software best practices across FCA globally. The team’s responsibilities include development and implementation of cybersecurity standards for all vehicle content, including on-board and remote services.
In addition, FCA US has been working with its suppliers to implement additional protocols to block remote access. These changes will not require any action by our customers.
A new software update is available for certain vehicles which will provide an additional level of security by protecting from potential unauthorized and unlawful access. If you are the owner of a 2013-2014 RAM truck or Viper, or a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Cherokee or Dodge Durango, you can download and install our latest software update by visiting http://ift.tt/1l23yuW You can also visit any Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep or RAM dealership to have this software update performed free of charge.
