Private-Sector Cybersecurity Spending Is Still Too Low

Private-sector cybersecurity spending still isn’t enough to counter the threat, according to the results of an Institute of Information Security Professionals (IISP) survey of its members.

“There is a growing problem with more types of attack, more sources and types of threat, greater reliance on increasingly complex IT systems, the ongoing shortage of effective security staff and a regulatory environment that is both fluid and challenging,” according to the IISP survey.

While awareness of cybersecurity is growing, many companies view it as just not worth the investment. Through this cost-benefit analysis lens, many companies estimate that the losses from breaches would be less expensive than investments in preventive measures. For the full article click here
